December 22, 2025 Uncle Ed

Uncle Ed married Ruthie, Dale’s dad’s sister, and then – many years ago, they retired to Grandma and Grandpa Lewis’s home place. Their house still holds the heartbeat of the 1960s and 70s – the laughter of a big-family of many cousins,
Christmas mornings,
familiar hymns,
and memories layered like tinsel through time. It is a sacred place to us.
Uncle Ed was the quiet anchor in a very spirited Lewis family – steady, gentle, faithful.
Through the years, as a pastor, he led us in weddings, funerals, and as an uncle, he led us in moments that mattered … caring deeply for us- showing up without a big scene, loving without noise or judgement … he just loved.
These words meet us in this tender season:
“Prepare the way for the Lord; make His paths straight… and everyone will see the salvation of God.”
Luke 3:4, 6
Christmas teaches us to prepare room and a way – not just in our homes, but our hearts.
Grief softens us.
Memory steadies us.
Love slows us enough to notice God’s nearness.
Today we will walk familiar steps with familiar roots, familiar hearts … carrying both sorrow and a certain, unspeakable joy.
This day – especially as Christmas comes … everyone will feel the celebration of God’s salvation. And, be reminded that eternity is so very close.
I know you are holding close the memories of loved ones during these holidays, too. Just know that I pray for you as you come to my mind in and out of the hours.
In His Love and Light,
Angie
