This was our all-time favorite rooster, Russell Crow. He was better than any watchdog we ever had.
If something was off on the place, he knew it before we did.
A stranger.
A raccoon.
A sound that didn’t belong.
He’d throw up his head and sound the alarm like it was his holy calling to watch over what had been entrusted to him.
And, every night, he rounded the hens into the coop, then go roost on a rail under the barn lean-to … then wait for Dale to carry him into the coop and lock up the chickens.
He had a big personality.
Wouldn’t it be sweet if life came with a Russell Crow warning crow?
A clear warning sounding off before the danger.
Before the wrong turn.
Before the hard thing we never saw coming.
God warns.
He nudges.
He whispers.
Sometimes we take notice.
“The prudent see danger and take refuge…” Proverbs 22:3
Sometimes … we miss the nudge or move too fast, He does not leave us there though.
He meets us in the middle of the mess and He is wise enough to lead us back out.
God watches the field.
Still guards what He loves.
You and me.
Listen closely … He knows what is moving before you do.
Wrapping you and me in protection at this very moment.
He guards.
He covers.
He goes before you and me.
He stands around us.
And “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge…” Psalm 91:4
I love that thought. That image. That truth.
In His Love and Light,
Angie
