February 25, 2026 Short straws

This is my most recent “shorty” photo. In 5th grade P.E. when teams were picked for basketball, at 5’1″, I was hardly anyone’s first choice. Dad taught the brothers and me that as long as our feet reach the ground we were the right height. He convinced us. My feet still reach the ground!
But, in life, who hasn’t been pained by
Rejection?
Passed over.
Unappreciated.
You have.
I have.
Not because we are victims – but because we are human, and the enemy uses every tool to get to us when he can.
And, you and I didn’t just “get over it.” We carried it … quietly. Like a rock in our pocket we forgot was there … until a word, a look, a memory rubs it raw again.
Then – chest tightens.
Throat burns.
Minds replay it like a mean little movie.
But … there comes a moment when we get to choose. Not because what they did was okay. It wasn’t.
Not because we want them close. We don’t.
Some doors stay shut for good reason.
Still … we can untangle our spirit from the sting.
And, bless them anyway.
From a distance.
With wisdom.
With God.
How deep does the river in your heart go?
God’s love is transformational. Christ’s love unshackles. Even the dark, blank places in a person’s heart are not too far for Him.
So whisper a blessing like Heaven has plenty – because it does.
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19, ESV
We live in this truth.
This is our stay.
Bless their future with peace. Ask God to meet them there. And when you release that blessing, something holy happens in you … acid resentment turns into a spiritual shift.
This kind of love takes training.
But on the other side?
Freedom. Flow. Peace.
If you and I so choose the release.
In His Love and Light,
Angie
