January 9, 2026 Heart of Wisdom
Yesterday, I worked on updating my calendar and making sure I had the recurring dates and times correct through the year – til 2027. And, I paused to think – did I I really just slide through 2026 to the 2027 page?! Goodness.
Dale’s dad used to comment often about time and how it flies as we get older.
Quietly, it is just gone.
Not so much with alarms or announcements … but with the tick of the clock you stop noticing … or the way you lay your head down and suddenly the night and sleep is over.
Most of us, it seems, wake up already measuring. Counting what we didn’t finish yesterday. Comparing our pace to someone else’s. Wondering if we’re using our time “right.” And before we know it, time feels like something pressing us forward instead of something meant to be held.
Meant to be held …
Some nights, when the house finally settles and the noise fades, I notice it again … the passing of minutes,
steady and faithful.
Not rushing.
Not apologizing.
Just moving.
“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
It doesn’t say to hurry our days. Or … fill every one of them. It says to number them – to notice them. To let awareness soften us instead of scare us. Or frustrate us.
We don’t get to choose how many days we’re given, right? But … we do get to choose how gently we live inside them. Whether we spend them chasing someone else’s life … or honoring the one God placed in our hands.
This life.
Today.
If today feels full or fast, maybe wisdom looks like slowing down.
Listening.
Letting one small moment be enough.
Sit with the quiet.
Sometimes the best use of time is simply noticing you’re here with the Savior. Mmmm. No agenda – just a knowing and a silent presence of being with Him.
A knowing.
In His silent presence.
Sit with that a moment longer.
In His Love and Light,
Angie
