March 5, 2026 Set Apart Safe Place

These are war-laced days in the Middle East.

You hear it as background noise everywhere – in the news … hear it in grown-up conversations. Children don’t always understand the words, but I know they feel the weight. Especially the ones with loved ones serving – abroad, at home, or standing ready right here in our own communities where protocols must be on higher alert.

I wonder what passes through their small, thoughtful minds.

Last night, my folks gathered at Levi and Holly’s for my birthday. Just simple hours together.
Sweet fellowship.
Threaded hearts.

Balloons kept bouncing in the air as long as Rush and whoever wandered by would bat them back up. Little girls collapsed in giggles across a big pillow on the floor. The men tended the grill on the porch. Stories spilled out –
family trips,
future plans,
favorite recipes.

For a while … the worries stepped away.

I felt God remind me of the quiet work we’re called to do for our children and grandchildren: give them a refuge. A place to land when the world grows wild.
Personally.
Spiritually.
Nationally.
Everywhere.

Because Scripture doesn’t say trouble won’t come – it says Help will.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

So I keep saying it, humble as I can, to every heart under our roof: ‘wherever I am, you are welcome’. It’s not always lollipops and rainbows around here – it’s real … love takes a lot of do-betters and forgiveness.

Just like our life with Him.

I’m a blessed woman. Flawed. Crawling back for mercy. Fixed again and again. And so very … blessed.

I’m curious … where is your set-apart place? And, who needs you to help make one for them today?

In His Love and Light,
Angie
