September 25, 2026 Evie’s 2nd Birthday
Two.
What a perfect and wonderful age. She is full of passion … as in, joy takes over her whole ENTIRE little body!
She claps.
She squeals.
She dances without music and laughs without wondering who is watching.
Pure joy.
Uncovered.
Unashamed.
Uninhibited.
Sometimes I just wonder when we learned to hold ours in?
And, why?!
Jesus drew the little ones close:
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:14 NKJV
Uninhibited joy.
Maybe Jesus knew we needed their reminder … of the heaven to come – when the purest joy takes over every cell in us.
In God’s perfect wisdom, He knew we would need them … to remind us …
to notice the tiny things.
To laugh from our bellies.
To reach for the ones we love.
To trust the arms holding us.
Mmm. Child-like and all.
They carry wonder into our ordinary hours, don’t they. A puddle is an adventure, a silly song can fix a hard moment, and love given so very freely.
Today, I thank Jesus for two whole years of Evie.
For her bright blue eyes, her little voice, and the joy she brings – lighting up every room.
Thank God for kids. Who had the song with that title? Statler Brothers? Gosh … 1980’s?!
May we never become
too grown,
too busy,
or too burdened to receive the joy Jesus places right in front of us … in our kids.
Sometimes it comes wrapped in little people – with a bow on top.
We will party all weekend!
